Acupuncture services involve the stimulation of acupuncture points on or near the surface of the body by the insertion of needles to normalize physiological function and manage the flow of Chi for the treatment of pain and includes the techniques of needle acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, acupressure and moxibustion.

WCB-Alberta contracts with the Alberta Dental Association and College for the timely provision of dental services to workers. Services may be provided by general and specialist dentists.
*Note: Authorization for dental/denturist services must be obtained before proceeding with dental work.

Diagnostic imaging services, primarily bone scans, CT scans and MRIs can be provided to the injured worker.

To provide personal care and home making needs and requirement services to injured workers in their residence or temporary place of residence.

Occupational therapy services evaluate the functional impact of an injury or disease on a worker’s ability to complete daily living activities (self-care, work, leisure).
To provide physician prescribed prosthetic and orthotic devices to injured workers in order to gain optimal function for return to work and increase daily living activities.

Psychological assessment and counselling services are provided when necessary in order to assist an injured worker to return to work safely. These services are usually provided on a short-term basis.

Interpretation services may be provided for a worker who requires communication assistance in English with WCB-Alberta or health care providers in the community. Translation services may be provided to translate text of another language into English or English into another language.
