Manage Your Performance and Costs

Research program

Purpose

WCB-Alberta is committed to preventing workplace accidents and diseases. Working with employers, workers, industry safety associations and labour organizations, WCB promotes injury prevention and encourages the development of effective disability management services. With a strong eight-decade heritage we’ve made significant progress in the prevention and management of work-related injury and illness.

WCB actively supports the involvement of workers, employers, researchers and educators in helping to improve workplace health and safety. One way this is done is through our Research Program. This program provides funding to high quality scientific research projects that address the most pressing issues facing WCB:

  • Obtaining optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Obtaining optimal return to work outcomes in claimants experiencing lost time.
  • Improving efficiency of claims management through reducing unnecessary medical and administration costs.

For detailed information about WCB’s Research Program, including which projects are eligible for funding and how to apply, please see our research brochure (pdf, 2.79MB).
