Pay premiums

You can pay your WCB-Alberta premiums a number of ways, as described below.

Payment options:

1. Pre-authorized debit

If you sign up for pre-authorized debit (PAD), your payments are automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the invoice due date or next business day. If your annual premium is greater than $1,200 and you are signed up for PAD, you can request to pay your premiums in monthly installments. To sign up for pre-authorized debit, fill out the debit authorization form and mail or fax it to us with a void cheque.

2. INTERAC® online

Make a payment directly from your bank account using INTERAC® online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

3. Visa or MasterCard

Pay online using Visa or MasterCard 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

4. Telephone

Pay by phone during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday) by calling our contact centre.

5. Authorized Canadian financial institution

Electronic or telephone banking

You can pay your premium using your personal computer or telephone through an authorized financial institution, trust company or credit union in Canada. This option is set up directly with your bank—you just need to select Workers' Compensation Board – Alberta as the payee.

Payment via bank counters or ATM machines

You can pay your premium at any financial institution in Canada, but you must include the tear-off stub from the first page of your invoice.

Note: Please allow five business days for your payment to be applied to your WCB account.

6. Mail

A pre-addressed envelope is included with each invoice that has a balance owing. Enclose the tear-off stub from the first page of your invoice with your cheque or money order. If you do not have the invoice stub, please make sure your WCB account number is written on your cheque or money order. Please send your payment to our premium payments mailbox.

7. In person at WCB locations

You can pay by cash, cheque, money order, Visa, MasterCard or debit card in person at either of the Edmonton or Calgary WCB locations. An after-hours slot is located at each office. If paying after-hours, please use an envelope and include your WCB account number.

Premium installment plans

Installment plans are automatically assigned based on your total premiums. The number of installments are dependent on the date your account is opened in the calendar year.

There is a minimum $200 premium charged on each WCB-Alberta account per calendar year.
